Indonesia is home to some of the world’s most valuable natural resources, yet the exploitation of these resources has often led to environmental degradation. This paper explores the challenges and opportunities for achieving sustainable development in Indonesia's resource-rich regions, such as Kalimantan, Papua, and Sumatra. The research examines the role of natural resources in driving economic growth while considering the environmental consequences of resource extraction, deforestation, and pollution. It assesses policies aimed at promoting sustainable resource management, including green investments, eco-tourism, and renewable energy initiatives. Through case studies of successful sustainable development projects, such as the conservation of rainforests in Kalimantan and the development of community-based eco-tourism in Papua, the paper provides a roadmap for balancing economic growth with environmental conservation. The study contributes to understanding how regional economies can thrive while preserving Indonesia's rich natural heritage for future generations.
