Policy on the Use of GenAI

This journal recognizes the increasing role of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools in academic writing and research workflows. While such tools may support certain aspects of scholarly work, the journal maintains strict ethical and transparency standards regarding their use in manuscript preparation, review, and publication.

1. Permitted Use of Generative AI

Authors may use generative AI tools (e.g., for language improvement or formatting assistance) only for limited, supportive purposes, such as:

  • Improving grammar, spelling, and readability of the manuscript
  • Assisting with translation or language polishing
  • Formatting references or citations (with human verification)
  • Improving clarity of expression without altering scientific meaning

The use of AI must not replace intellectual contribution or scholarly interpretation.

2. Prohibited Use of Generative AI

Generative AI tools must NOT be used for:

  • Generating scientific content, research findings, or original arguments
  • Creating or fabricating data, results, or images
  • Conducting analysis, interpretation, or drawing scientific conclusions
  • Authorship or co-authorship attribution to AI systems
  • Producing references or citations that are not verified by the author

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances.

3. Author Responsibility and Accountability

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • The accuracy, originality, and integrity of the entire manuscript
  • Any content generated or assisted by AI tools
  • Verification of all AI-assisted outputs, including references and data
  • Ensuring that AI use does not introduce bias, misinformation, or ethical violations

Any misuse of AI tools that results in academic misconduct (such as fabrication, plagiarism, or falsification) will be treated as a serious ethical violation.

4. Disclosure Requirement

Authors must clearly disclose the use of generative AI in their manuscript. The disclosure should include:

  • The name of the AI tool used (e.g., ChatGPT or similar systems)
  • The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing, translation assistance)
  • The sections of the manuscript where AI assistance was applied

Example statement:

“The authors used a generative AI tool solely for language editing and grammar improvement. All scientific content, analysis, and conclusions were developed and verified by the authors.”

Failure to disclose AI usage may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of the article.

5. Editorial and Peer Review Use of AI

Editors and reviewers are also prohibited from using generative AI tools to:

  • Evaluate manuscripts
  • Make editorial decisions
  • Generate peer review reports

All editorial and peer-review assessments must be conducted independently by qualified human experts to ensure confidentiality, accountability, and scholarly integrity.

6. Data Privacy and Confidentiality

Manuscripts under review are confidential documents. Editors, reviewers, and authors must ensure that:

  • Manuscript content is not uploaded into AI systems that may store or reuse data
  • Confidential research information is not exposed to third-party AI platforms
  • Privacy and intellectual property rights are fully respected

7. Ethical Compliance

This policy aligns with international publishing ethics standards and best practices, including recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal continuously reviews its policies to respond to developments in generative AI technologies while maintaining academic integrity.
